Dr. Philippe Gorny is a cardiovascular surgeon by training. He worked in Paris Hospitals as resident and then as assistant head physician in the cardiac and vascular surgery departments of Professors Charles Dubost (Broussais Hospital), Christian Cabrol (Pitié Hospital), and Alain Carpentier (Broussais Hospital).
His surgical activities were primarily focused on coronary artery bypass grafting, heart valve replacement or repair, heart transplants, and peripheral arterial operations.
He also worked as a research assistant in the laboratory of Professor Alain Carpentier, the pioneer of implantable biological valves (Lasker Prize) and of the artificial heart of the french company Carmat.
With a degree in vascular surgery (top of his class) and angiology (Paris), Philippe Gorny is the author of numerous publications and several books in the cardiovascular field aimed at professionals and at the public.
In the venous field, he was a pioneer in France in the early 1990s in ambulatory phlebological surgery (without hospitalization), under local anesthesia or light sedation, advocating the use of minimally invasive techniques. He published the first articles on this topic, as well as the first cases in France using endovenous laser in 2001.
Dr. Philippe Gorny was also a pioneer in aesthetic venous surgery outside the lower limbs, eliminating unsightly bulging veins in the hands, face, and other areas (breasts décolleté), using a technique that he has been practicing for more than 25 years and for which he has developed specialized instruments.
After more than 35 years of practice in vein surgery, he has acquired a wealth of experience in both aesthetic varicose vein treatment and complex surgical revisions related to this condition. Dr Philippe Gorny taught vein surgery from 1990 to 2011 at the University of Paris VI (Broussais Hospital and then European Georges Pompidou Hospital).
